PURPOSE
Help connect Minnesotans to career paths through registered apprenticeship!
This new position is for a highly organized individual that will develop and implement engagement strategies and provide navigation services for prospective, and current, apprentices. These services will be available in the City of Minneapolis, the Twin Cities Metro region, and in the state of Minnesota. This position promotes awareness and understanding about the efficacy of a registered apprenticeship career pathway, while providing navigation and retention support to current and prospective apprentices. Finally, it prepares and delivers reports regularly on program goals and outcomes to various stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stand up and staff new Apprenticeship Outreach Office based at CareerForce North Minneapolis location.
- Build, maintain, and expand partnerships to foster networks and collaboration between and among educational and training institutions, apprenticeship stakeholders and employers.
- Connect prospective employers and employer-association sponsors with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry to develop and launch registered apprenticeships.
- Deliver apprenticeship education, counseling, case-management, and navigation services.
- Report regularly to Building Strong Communities, the Minneapolis Workforce Development Board and other apprenticeship stakeholders on strategies, service placement and program outcomes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated experience in workforce development programming.
- Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse and under-served communities.
- Demonstrated experience in program budgeting, project planning and grant administration.
- Demonstrated experience in case-management or navigation services.
- Ability to write clearly and organize material logically for reports or correspondence.
- Possess computer and technology aptitude sufficient to complete responsibilities including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of private and state-funded workforce programs.
- Knowledge of registered apprenticeships.
- Knowledge of state and county support services sufficient to refer participants appropriately.
- Knowledge of industries engaging registered apprenticeship, such as construction, manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, utilities, information technology, and education.
- Accepts responsibility and takes effective action while exercising sound judgment in performance of duties.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel to various sites for meetings and events.
- Must have access to a reliable personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.
- Must have a valid, current driver’s license and proof of valid insurance.
